Would you like a better (more frequent, less expensive) train service at Gleneagles? So would we! Would you like to see all the investment that was made to Gleneagles Station for the Ryder Cup in 2014 make a real difference to transport options for people in Crieff and the surrounding towns and villages in the future? So would we!!
CCT has become actively involved in a Community Rail Partnership for the Perth to Stirling railway. The Rail Partnership involves representatives of the train operators and the communities served by the Perth and Stirling Railway and connecting bus services. CCT is represented on the Steering Committee (CCT Board member, Roger Brickell, is now the Convenor). Our main objectives are:
- To provide a rail-connecting bus service between Crieff and Gleneagles Station: This would allow for through-booking between Crieff and Edinburgh or Glasgow.
- Increased frequency of trains at Gleneagles: We would like an hourly service throughout the day.
- A more rationalised fare structure: We are seeking cheaper fares by bus and train between Crieff and the principal points on the rail network, in particular, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
