Crieff Community Trust is a volunteer-led organisation working to make Crieff a thriving, connected and sustainable town. Our projects span heritage, greenspace, enterprise and community regeneration.

Below is a summary of our main areas of work.

Town Centre Regeneration

CCT has been at the heart of Crieff’s town centre regeneration for over a decade. While our early work focused on the former Drummond Arms Hotel, we have since taken a wider, more strategic role in supporting the vitality of the whole town centre.

Our focus is now on revitalising Crieff’s economy, heritage and public spaces through practical action and collaboration. Highlights include:

  • Can Do Crieff, our self-sustaining coworking hub providing affordable workspace for freelancers, remote workers and small businesses, helping people work locally and keeping activity on the High Street.
  • The Murray Fountain restoration, which brought one of Crieff’s most recognisable landmarks back to life through partnership working and community fundraising.
  • Support for local creative and tourism initiatives such as the Sculpture Trail and Santa’s Post Office, where CCT provided funding administration, contractor coordination and governance support to ensure safe and successful delivery.
  • Town Centre Coordination, where CCT has worked with Perth & Kinross Council and community organisations to map and align major regeneration projects through the Crieff Capital Projects Alignment Plan, promoting collaboration and shared vision for the town’s future.

Through these efforts, CCT continues to champion a vibrant, welcoming town centre that celebrates Crieff’s heritage while creating space for enterprise, culture and community life.

Paths and Green Spaces

CCT is committed to improving access to Crieff’s outstanding natural surroundings and caring for its shared green spaces.

  • Oakbank to MacRosty Park Link Path, secured planning permission and funding, with further applications pending. Community consultation is underway on the final surfacing and design.
  • Crieff to Comrie Path, strong collaboration between CCT, Comrie Development Trust, Comrie Community Council, local landowners and Perth & Kinross Council on the development of this important core path to create a safe off-road route between Crieff and Comrie
  • Voluntary Path Group, working with the local Countryside Ranger on regular maintenance sessions of our local paths at locations such as the Knock, Bennybeg and along the River Earn.
  • Turretbank Wood, ongoing stewardship and improvements, including tree care, drainage, seating and invasive species management.

This steady, behind-the-scenes work reflects CCT’s long-term commitment to maintaining and enhancing the outdoor spaces that define Crieff’s character.

Heritage and Built Environment

The Drummond Arms transition marked the end of a major chapter for the Trust. After years of complex ownership and community effort, the title was transferred to Perth & Kinross Council in early 2025 for future redevelopment.

CCT and its subsidiary Drummond Arms Regeneration Ltd (DARL) acted throughout in the best interests of the community, ensuring the asset was managed responsibly and safely.
This project also led to lasting national impact: CCT’s persistence helped influence the creation of the Ownerless Property Transfer Scheme (OPTS) by the King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer — improving how derelict and ownerless properties can be transferred to communities across Scotland.

Collaboration and Community Capacity

CCT plays a vital convening role in bringing together local organisations, funders and the public sector to align efforts for Crieff’s regeneration.

At the request of the Scottish Government Regeneration Team and Perth & Kinross Council for a ‘Vision for Crieff’, CCT established the Crieff Town Team and led the creation of the Crieff Capital Projects Alignment Plan, mapping ten key capital projects and demonstrating how they deliver both local and national priorities.

Another strand of this collaborative work is Uniting Crieff, an online hub listing local groups, services, voluntary organisations and small community businesses — making it easy to find activities, support and volunteering opportunities in one place.

Looking Ahead

With the Drummond Arms project complete, CCT is entering a new phase of focus and renewal. We have appointed a Development Officer, are strengthening governance and risk management, and are seeking new trustees who bring energy, networks and expertise.

Our priorities for the year ahead include:

  • Delivering the next stages of our path network and greenspace improvements
  • Expanding the use and reach of Can Do Crieff
  • Leading the development of the next Crieff Community Action Plan and Local Place Plan 2026–2031
  • Continuing to advocate for collaboration and investment across the town
