The Oakbank to MacRosty Park Off Road All Abilities Link Path is now OPEN!
We are delighted to announce that construction of the new path linking the Oakbank community to MacRosty Park is now complete and open for everyone to enjoy.
Designed for all abilities off road, the new active travel route provides a safe, accessible, year-round path that is resilient to flooding and water damage. It has been built to accommodate a wide range of users, including wheelchairs, pushchairs and cyclists, creating an inclusive space for residents and visitors alike.
The construction phase of the project has been led by Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust (PKCT) and Transport Planning & Engineering (TP&E), the social enterprise arm of Cycling Scotland, on behalf of Crieff Community Trust and we are delighted with the progress made by contractor AB Gairns Ltd in bringing this much-anticipated project to life.
This project has only been possible thanks to the support of Sir Brian and Lady Elizabeth Souter and Perth and Kinross Council’s Community Greenspace team, and the generosity of our funders: Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (formerly Sustrans), Transport Scotland, The Gannochy Trust, Perth and Kinross Council’s Community Environment Challenge Fund, The Hugh Fraser Foundation, The Mushroom Trust, and the Barrack Charitable Trust – thank you for helping make this fantastic community asset a reality.
A formal opening of the path will be arranged later in the year and we hope the community will come along to help us celebrate this important milestone.
We invite you all to try the new Link Path, whether for a daily walk, an active commute, or time outdoors with family and friends and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
