Drummond Arms Regeneration Ltd (DARL) – Artists Commission
‘DARL’ is looking for artists or designers to create temporary artwork designs for the four boarded-up windows of the Drummond Arms on Hill Street, Crieff (indicated in red on photos below). The windows will add vibrancy and colour to the town centre as we welcome the public back onto our streets. Artworks should be bold and designed to celebrate Crieff. Any aspect of Crieff’s life can be used – celebrating your community, using the colours, people, landmarks, landscapes, shapes, heritage or feel of the town centre are all possible inspirations. Due to planning restrictions you cannot use any text or numbers. Each of the four chosen artists/designers will be awarded £250 as a design fee for their successful design.
The artwork can be made in any materials but must be on a format (20×36.6 cm or 40×73.2 cm) in size and scannable to at least 600dpi. It would be possible to photograph submissions that are more textured. It is our intention to have the artworks copied, enlarged and printed to the full size of the windows on PVC or backlight-able fabric
This will be a great opportunity to have your work on display for many years to come in a public place.
These windows will be a part of a larger scheme which will transform the facade of the current dilapidated Drummond Arms, while major works continue behind the scenes.
Completed artworks should be delivered to Millar Street Studios, Millar Street, Crieff PH7 3AH between 10am and 1pm Wednesday 21 October or 1pm and 4pm Thursday 22 October 2021.
NB Implementation will be subject to planning consent from Perth & Kinross Council.
