New Year update on regeneration of the Drummond Arms
Happy 2020 from Crieff Community Trust! We look forward to the 2020s being the decade when we really start to see progress on Crieff town-centre regeneration.
We made a great start in 2019, securing ownership in October of the former Drummond Arms Hotel. A trading subsidiary company, Drummond Arms Regeneration Limited (DARL), was set up to manage plans for the building and we started work straight away on the immediate priority, making the building safe and secure. Windows and doors have been boarded up and scaffolding erected to safeguard the public, neighbouring structures and the building. This scaffolding will stay in place to continue to keep everyone safe whilst investigations continue.
In the meantime the Drummond Arms Regeneration Limited has been working closely with Perth & Kinross Council, to plan the further phases necessary to secure the building’s future.
First of all, a variety of professional reports have been commissioned to establish information concerning structural and environmental issues and the overall condition of the building. These investigations are feeding into a final options appraisal, which we should see by the end of February. Once we have this report we look forward to sharing the findings with the community and moving on to the next phase of the Drummond Arms’ regeneration.
